From the desk of... The Rev. Thomas G. Vais
In the gospel according to Luke we are told, "that after the death of Christ, some women wne to visit the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away and Christ's body was gone. They were confused! Suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them and said: 'Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen." |
This is what we have come to celebrate!!
- A God who is alive
- A God who is everywhere
- A God of infinite possibilities
- A God who wants to form a partnership with us to change things for the better
Easter will mean nothing to us so long as we are looking for Him who is alive among the dead. The password has not changed in two thousand years... "He is Risen" Where ever you are along life's road, He is just ahead of you, follow Him and you will never be sorry!!! |
Win... Win... Win... Lose...
When someone dies and you are trying to do something to honor their life, consider
making a donation to our church memorial fund in their memory (even if they weren’t connected with the church.)
If you have a part in
arranging the funeral
services of someone who had a connection to our church, consider having a line placed in the death
notice in the paper which reads....
“Gifts to the Memorial Trust Fund of the Caledonia Presbyterian Church would be
appreciated by the
family.”
You win…
because giving always makes you feel good,
because you will get a
receipt which will help you save on the income taxes you have to pay next year, and because you will create a lasting memorial to your friend or relative.
Our church wins…
because the interest on the memorial funds helps
to further God’s work |
through the Caledonia Presbyterian Church.
Did you know?
The Trustees now have over $400,000 in trust funds
invested, and last year were able to pay out the interest earned of over $30,000 to support the work of our church.
The family of the deceased
wins …
because they will receive a notice that a lasting
memorial donation has been made to the church in the memory of the deceased,
and they will be comforted by knowing that.
Revenue Canada loses…
because they will receive less income tax from you next year when you file the “tax deductible” receipt which the church issues for all
donations of $5.00 or more. (Any charitable donations over $200 you make this year will mean that you save taxes of about 50 cents for each dollar you give when you file your tax return next year.)
Please call me, or any of the Trustees, if you have any questions or would like to have more details.
