MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTER

empty tomb picture

But the Angel
said to the
women, do not
be afraid;

I know you are looking for
Jesus who was crucified.
He is not here;
for He has been raised, he said.

MATTHEW 28:5-6

This, of course, is the good news of Easter, the greatest News! Mary Magdalene and the other women went to the tomb and the stone had been rolled away. Death had been conquered. Now nothing would ever be the same. The lives of those who followed Jesus would now have extraordinary meaning and purpose and energy because the stone had been rolled away.

I once heard about a man who had the opportunity to go fishing on the Gulf of Mexico. This man had never been out on a body of water any bigger than a small lake where he sometimes fished, so he was looking forward to this experience. The fishing turned out to be lousy! They caught nothing. Still, he had a great time. He was especially enthralled by the sunrise and the sunset over the Gulf. Never before had he been able to see the entire horizon as the sun went up and the sun went down. The rapidly changing colours were awe-inspiring. Since he had a camera along, he took many pictures. Back home, he was eager to get the film developed. When at last the pictures came, however, he made a discovery.

He could no longer tell which of them were Pictures of the sunrise and which were Pictures of the sunset. They all looked the same.

My friends, thanks to the empty tomb, Death is like that for believers. To some it appears to be an end: the End of Life, the End of a Relationship, a time of great sadness, a Sunset, if you will.

But for those who believe in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, it is a Sunrise.... A beginning, the Beginning of Life with God.

Easter Day changes everything concerning death and the meaning of Life. An enemy becomes a welcome friend. The stone had been rolled away. Sunset and Sunrise ....

ALL THE SAME.

HAPPY EASTER.

Board of Managers

Easter Greetings from the Board of Managers. At this time we would like to thank the members, adherents and visitors of our congregation for your continued support of the everyday workings of our church. As in past years, we struggle to meet the everyday costs of running this church. Below is a summary of just a few of the major expenses the Church has incurred during the first two months of 2005.

Insurance
Heating
Hydro
Total
$ 9,211.32
2,888.00
980.00
$ 13,079.32
Many of you may not know, but, the church pays for an overdraft protection of $10,000.00 and we have already used up those extra funds to date.

Unfortunately fund raising plays a major role in any church or nonprofit organization. In order for renovations/improvements to continue here at Caledonia Presbyterian we will need to remain focused and plan for the future. Over the last several years we as a church family have raised an abundant amount of money for the roof and the Sanctuary. There has always been a reason to fundraise. The Board would like to hail the fund raising efforts of the Senior Choir for their success in financing the Chancel Renovations.

Please stay tuned to upcoming bulletins and newsletters for some new and exciting fund raising projects. If you have any questions or fund raising ideas, do not hesitate to contact a Member of the Board of Managers or the Church Office.

Information regarding Pre-Authorized Debit is available in the pocket on the door of the Church Office. Feel free to pick one up and give the idea some thought. It might not work for everyone, but it works for some!!
